OGUN GETS TRAUMA CENTRE

Ogun State Government has initiated move to have an International Trauma Center that will serve five States within the South West geo-Political zone. As a step in this direction, a twenty member Committee to facilitate through Private Public Partnership the construction of trauma and diagnostic center at the Olabisi Onabanjo University teaching hospital, Sagamu was today inaugurated by Otunba Gbenga Daniel. The strategic location of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu on the two busiest Highways; Lagos – Ibadan and Sagamu – Benin makes it imperative for the establishment of a Trauma Diagnostic Centre in order to take care of road accident victims.

Giving a 7-point term of reference, Otunba Gbenga Daniel implored the Committee members who are professionals in their chosen fields to come up with recommendations that will make the centre a reference point. The Governor was optimistic that the Trauma and Diagnostic Centre when completed will no doubt provide qualitative, quantitative and affordable HealthCare delivery Service to he citizenry.

Otunba Gbenga Daniel equally believed that by the establishment of the Centre Five other States, Edo, Ondo, Lagos, Oyo and Ekiti will benefit maximally from the quality Services to be provided at the Centre. Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Jide Ajayi who described the assignment as a very major one, however assured that it will be challenged from all fronts. The Committee later had its inaugural meeting at the Governor’s Office
